  • Description

SiPM array is a circuit board that integrates multiple SiPM chips and the basic electronic components required to read outSiPM signals. It is mainly divided into two categories based on functional differences:

The first type of SiPM array only includes SiPM chips and connectors (board to board connectors or board to wire connectors) that lead out the positive and negative poles of SiPM chips. It is not possible to directly output SiPM signals throughexternal SiPM bias. A signal interface board containing SiPM power supply filtering circuit and SiPM signal impedance matching circuit needs to be connected to the backend to output SiPM signals normally. After receiving this type of SiPM array, users need to design their own backend signal interface board;

The second type of SiPM array includes SiPM chips, SiPM power supply filtering circuits, SiPM signal impedance matching circuits, signal summation circuits or position encoding circuits based on resistance or capacitance networks. The original SiPM summation signal or original position energy signal can be output through external input of SiPM bias voltage. After receiving this type of SiPM array, if the user feels that the signal amplitude and signal-to-noise ratio are good enough, they can directly digitize the original SiPM summation signal or original position energy signal. If the signal amplitude is too low or the signal-to-noise ratio is not good enough, they can design their own back-end amplification and shaping circuit to further process the original SiPM summation signal or original position energy signal, and then digitize the SiPM signal acquisition.

SiPM arrays can be coupled with different types of scintillators (gas scintillators, liquid scintillators, solid-state inorganic scintillators, solid-state organic scintillators, etc.) to form integrated detectors for detecting different types of radiation (X-rays, gamma, alpha/beta, etc.). Common application directions include energy spectrum probes, gamma counters, radiation imaging detectors (PET detectors, Gamma camera detectors), etc.
