  • Description

The EP-FD series detector is a high-resolution, high-sensitivity, low-background alpha particle detector engineered for precision spectroscopy. To achieve optimal energy resolution, it maximizes the energy deposition of alpha particles within the detector’s sensitive volume.

When alpha particles pass through the detector’s entrance window, they can lose part of their energy via interactions with the window material—leading to peak broadening or energy shift in the spectrum. The EP-FD series addresses this by incorporating an ultra-thin entrance window, which significantly minimizes energy loss during particle entry and preserves the full energy signature of the incident alpha radiation.

Furthermore, the detector is designed with exceptionally low leakage current, which reduces electronic noise and enhances signal-to-noise ratio. Together, these features ensure superior spectral resolution, making the EP-FD series ideal for demanding applications such as environmental monitoring, nuclear safeguards, and low-level radioactivity measurements.
