Cerium Bromide (CeBr₃) scintillation crystals are grown using the Bridgman technique at Epic Crystal. The current maximum crystal ingot size reaches approximately 100 mm in diameter and 150 mm in length, enabling the production of high-performance detectors for demanding radiation detection applications.

Available configurations include:

  • Encapsulated crystals (standard and ruggedized versions)
  • Complete detector assemblies coupled with photodetectors such as PMTs or SiPMs


Outstanding Scintillation Performance

CeBr₃ is renowned for its superior scintillation properties, making it ideal for high-resolution gamma-ray
spectroscopy and real-time radiation monitoring. Key performance characteristics include:

  • High light output – comparable to NaI(Tl), ensuring strong signal generation
  • Fast decay time (~17 ns) – supports high count rates and excellent timing resolution
  • Superior energy resolution (typically <4% at 662 keV) – enables precise identification and differentiation of gamma-ray energies
  • Ultra-low intrinsic radioactivity (<0.005 counts/second/cm³) – minimizes background interference, critical for low-background and homeland security applications
